Tom's Thoughts - Child's Joy and Peace Be With Us All
So this morning my heart was touched by the joy and peace of a little child that I saw on the internet. I was shown the joy and the miracles enjoyed by the simple prayer to God Almighty. In these days when I spend time doing "security work" related things here on this website, I felt the need to see the joy and peace from a child's perspective and to share it with you. This joy and peace is meant for us all!
My prayer is for that joy, peace and healing of this little wonder of God be with you all. Here is the link to which I refer:

Please share the enthusiastic joy, peace and love this little one has with others. Let this little one's enthusiastic rejoicing and God's love for us infect us all!
Be Blessed!

Church Security Training - "Anonymous vs. Westboro Baptist Church"

Tom's Thoughts - I Would Not Want to Be a Security Person at Westboro!"
I have posted at least one news article regarding the Westboro Baptist Church. This is the church that is quite outspoken on several topics, including the picketing of American Service Men's funerals.
This article reports that a group has taken credit for communication asking, maybe even demanding that the church stop what it is doing. The article is quite interesting as a portion of the article suggests that maybe even Westboro Church itself is behind the communication. I guess it could be seen as an attempt to draw attention to the Westboro Church.
Any way you cut it, I do believe that the posturing by the Church creates many problems to keep the people and the property safe. I would not want that job.

So, learn about potential problems that go along with messages from pulpit or extreme behaviors. The article likened the stance of this church with extreme people hating the USA. How would you go about protecting this church? It is true freedom of speech is important, but just because we have freedom of speech, should we be going this far?
How does God show His love for people?
Be aware. Be prepared. Be protected.
Blessings all,
Tom

Tom's Thoughts - An Interesting Article Mixing a Church, a Sgt., and Psychotic Behavior
What should one believe? I think this would not have just made the news if some elements of it were not true.
This story alleges that a retired Prosecutor's Sergeant, Kurt Levins, used his pistol to break into a Medford, NJ, Church of Latter Day Saints to engage in malicious destruction of property (MDOP). The destruction of property included using a permanent marker to deface paintings and bullet holes fired into a wall.
Now this happened in July of 2009. So you be the judge. Was this just found out? Or did the knowledge of the perpetrator just come out?
The link:
The article reports Kurt Levin was a psychotic person and that the police were careful in how they approached his house to remove guns.
Wow! Be aware of what is in our communities and do not always take on face value the credibility and trustworthiness of those in authority.
Blessings!
Be aware. Be prepared. Be protected.

Tom's Thoughts - Always Review Gun Handling Safety Rules - Accidental Shooting
Here is a sad news article that I just discovered. It reminds me to always treat firearms with great seriousness and to always remember the three cardinal rules. Treat every gun as if it were loaded, keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot, and keep the gun unloaded until ready to use or carry in service.
Here is the link:
Let's lift the Pastor John Bartha's family, the congregation of the Ruskin United Methodist Church and the community of Tampa in prayer.
Be aware. Be prepared. Be protected.
Be blessed,

Church Security Training - Burglars NOT in Church to Pray or Worship

Tom's Thoughts - I Like This Story! Burglars Caught In Church
Here is an awesome story from the Johnston, PA area. It seems two individuals broke into a back church window (the fact that it is in the rear out of sight tells us something) and in the process of entering set off an alarm. The alarm was received by the Pastor who met the police at the church.
After backup arrived, officers entered and located on person hiding under a church pew. The individual indicated he was alone, but the officers continued searching and found one more.
Two people, Desmond Washington and Joseph Quinn, were arrested. The were charged with multiple crimes and are currently in jail.

So, this article gives me several thoughts. Alarms do work and can be useful in catching people in the act of committing crimes. The alarms must not have sounded inside the church because most times, an active loud alarm would drive burglars away. It appears that the church leadership had the funds available for an alarm system. The area must have been one in which an alarm system was needed. So, I surmise that the leadership must have conducted a risk assessment and security audit and felt it prudent to alarm the building.
As always, be aware. Be prepared. Be protected.
Blessings,
Tom
